The price of the cars rented depend on if it is in high season (a lot of tourists) or low season ( few tourists). Here is an advise because I have rented cars here and they will trick you for more money. Example is with Hertz: At Hertz, you rent a car and they will have you take the insurance which is ok, but if your credit card covers, then use the insurance of your card it will be cheaper and better. This will be a savings. Next the gasoline. Here the gas is at 65-70 cents per liter that is a whopping $ 2.30 to $ 2.50 a gallon depending on the station. Now, Hertz for example is one that will have you pay for the full tank up front and you bring the car back empty and they will fill it. What happens is that if you take this offer, they will charge you from $ 65 to $ 75 for a tank of gas. Do not fall for this. The car rentals I give you listed will give you the car with the tank as is and you return it as is. Example: At Lanes, they give you the car empty and you return it empty putting in the gas yourself. This is good because you put in what you want and use it. Now, if they give you the tank full well you return it full, but this is good also because you can buy the gas at the cheapest price that you want to buy and you do not have to worry about over-pricing as Hertz does. Now, there is tax and all car rentals have to charge the tax. But with buying the gas yourself, using the insurance of your credit card and asking for the economy car, you will turn out better and save a few bucks. Here is a list of car rentals that are a bit cheaper and do have the fill your own tank. The service of these rentals is good and the people are friendly and do speak English. Here is the list of the one that are good. Suggestion: 1. call first and check what car is available and the offers they have /2) ask for their GPS units, this is not to much /3) ask for their ExpresoToll sticker, this is a sticker on the windshield behind the rearview mirror that when you take the high way, you go through the express lane and you do not have to stop to deposit the toll money. Ask for pricing, but it is not expensive the last time is used a car. Here is the list:
Lanes Truck and Car rental- 213 Baldiority Avenue 1-787-268-6161-they have GPS units and the toll stickers, they also will pick you up at the Airport if you let them know and when you return the car they will take you back to the airport or to where you want to go.
Cars Rentals- Avenida Cementerio Nacional Hato Tejas, Bayamon-1-787-740-2277 they have offers and their cars a bit cheaper than Hertz. Here as in Lanes you get the car with what ever gas and you return it the same way. Just ask and you will see. They do have insurance or you can use your credit card insurance.
Afro Car Rental 621 Avenue Ponce deLeon 1-787-724-3720, I did call once and they gave me a nice offer, but I never did use their services, but I do hear that they have nice prices.
Charlie Car Rental (this one is popular among the tourists) 1- 787-728-2418 Avenue Isla Verde 5 minute from the Airport in Isla Verde
Dollar Car rentals-1-787-791-5500 on Marginal Los Angeles in Isla Verde also by the airport.
Enterprise Rent a Car Marginal Los Angeles1-787-784-3875
Thrifty Car Rental Marginal Los Angeles1-787-253-2525
Suggestion: Please Call first before you choose any answer to your question. Be sure first of the car rental and the car they offer. It is wise to be on the safe side. So call, and ask all your questions then decide on the car rental you want to use. Also the phone books have cupons for car rentals. Some may suggest First Truck and Car Rental from First Bank, do not even call they charge by the millage. They have an offer cupon in the phone book and it states “1st 50 miles free”. Don’t fall for this. The list I gave have unlimited millage.
