Never been to Seattle. Can you help?

Lady Tee asked:

My husband and I are planning a trip to Seattle soon and I have no idea where to begin. We are on a budget so I’m not too sure if a rental car is really necessary. Can anyone give me any suggestions on where to stay and things to do that are “budger friendly?”

Hi Folks My wife and I are from the UK and are doing a road trip in the States in July, we arrive in Seattle and were wondering where is the best place to pick up a rental car? The best and cheapest company for what we need seem to be National, and we can choose to pick up the car from either the airport or downtown seattle. I will be doing the driving but I was wondering where you think I should pick up the car. We don’t get into Seattle until about 8 in the evening after a 12 hour flight. Do you think it would be easier and make more sense to get a cab to a hotel and pick up the car the following day in downtown seattle? Or are the roads so complicated in a busy downtown seattle that it might just be more easier and straight forward picking up the car from the airport? Thanks for your help, any suggestions are welcome! Thanks for the advice guys, it sounds like the airport pickup is a better idea then. So possibly pickup from the airport, and book into a nearby hotel so I don’t have too much driving to do on the back of a 20 hour journey from my house to Seattle!
