Recommend hotels in D.C. Do I need to rent a car?

Tony D asked:

Planning a 5 day trip to Washington D.C. to visit museums, national mall, memorials, etc… Do I need a rental car or just cab around town? 4 adults on trip, would like to use one hotel room suite. Any suggestions?

I am hoping to go to Washington DC in February. Should I get a hire car or use public transport?

Car Hire
Ben asked:

I need your opinion, would it be easier to get a hire car or to use public transport to get around DC for a 4 night trip? Cost is not an issue, it is whether traffic is like London and there is no point in a car you can use public transport. I’ve done LA and there you need a car.

Thanks in advance.

We are going on vacation next week to Baltimore and Washington DC. We have never been to a place where there are trains or subways and all the traffic. We have rented a car but would that be the best way to travel to our tour locations in Washinton and Baltimore or the Nationals MLB Game? Please understand I need it put in simple terms becausue a previous question asked “How deep does the DC metor go?” I don’t know what that means. Please help. We want to have the best time on our vacation and not spend all the time in traffic. Thank you!

We will probably be driving a rental car to park at the hostel, and then taking public transportation or walking. We are really only interested in seeing the things at the National Mall area, the museums and White House etc.

Pop up Tents .
